Freestyling (well, almost)!

My big swim lesson on Tuesday went well enough 🙂  I made use of a kick-board but no swimming noodle or pull buoy.   The worst that happened was that I swallowed some water and was completely exhausted by the end of the 30 minutes!  Crazy how much can be done in 30 minutes.  I had my warm up – doggy paddle {with the noodle} halfway across the pool and back.  Then it was on to the kick-board a few times, followed by floating on my back {with one hand holding on to the rail} and jumping in – to prove to my instructor that I was no longer afraid of the jump 😀

Then came the hardest part.  Freestyle strokes. Not just freestyle strokes, but kicking and breathing underwater at the same time.  Now my co-ordination is far, far, far away from being perfect or close to decent, so this proved difficult to accomplish to say the least.

I’m tempted to go in for a practice session this evening, but I’ve had late nights for the entire week and still have a lot of catching up to do when I get home today.  Either way, I’m looking forward to the next time.  With my birthday just two weeks away, maybe I’ll be ready to take a birthday swim by then 😉
