Happily ever after – Part 1 (The invite)

I was meant to put up pictures from our wedding day on here but kept procrastinating.  You see, what was meant to be the happiest day of my life…was not.  I’m not going to go into much detail as I don’t want to ruin the beauty of the photos that follow (taken by the amazing Michaela Photography in Durban.  Between the family drama and being let down by my florist and priest, it was all more than I bargained for….
Anyway, back to the happy memories.  We did most of the decor ourselves and enlisted a few people to help with our unusually large invitations.  It was made out of corrugated cardboard, with white print.  Mr C works at an advertising & print company and they were kind enough to sponsor the invites.  However, since there was a lot of manual labour involved, we spent a good few hours on the weekends cutting and assembling the boxes at his office (we didn’t have the space to do it at home)
Here are some pics of the invite…

We used this image for a postcard invite we sent off to overseas guests.  We embedded a QR code into the postcard which linked to this video.  Even with all the drama, at least I have beautiful pics and this video that still makes me smile and remember the moments leading up to it.  One day hopefully I will forget all the misery that was involved and only remember these moments.
A few more pics of the invite…

The heart reveals a message when you slide it to the right, you can’t see it in this pic but it said “you’re invited”.
There’s so many other elements that we did on our own (being graphic designers, I suppose its inevitable lol) but I will post them in a series of posts as opposed to making one really really really long post.
